Just checking out the 14 day forecast Halfway Lake. It looks more like spring thaw than Deepfreeze!!

The 7 day forecast looks good . Below freezing every day with a chance of snow . Lots of snow on the ground . Sounds a whole lot better than the brutal cold we had last year .
I'm heading up there to check things out with 2 other guys on Monday . Will let you know how things look . scouter Joe

Went in to Sideburn Lake today with my 2 helpers Bob and Reg . Thanks for the help guys . The parking lot has been ploughed before the last snowfall and is OK . We walked in on snow shoes and the trail in is packed . We cut down several standing dead jack pine from around the tent sites . The snow depth is up to my knees and above without snow shoes on . I'd say conditions are excellent for deep freeze 17 . Bring it on . Looking forward to seeing everyone .

If any one has any questions or concerns please ask on the forums or send me a private message . scouter Joe

Thanks Joe! Looking more like DeepThaw than DeepFreeze at the moment, but so it goes.

Daniel.

Hi all.

Looks like I will be returning to DF after all, joining Greg and Brooke for the first weekend - leaving Monday. Greg will be leaving Tuesday. And Marc and his step son will come later for the last weekend.

Short and fragmented, but should be sweet.

See you guys there!

Hi All,

I'll be joining up for DF'17 also, camping solo. Last year was my first attendance, and it was lots of fun. Looking forward to this one too!

A little warmer than I like for winter camping, but not much can be done about that :) At least we burn a bit less wood this way to stay comfortable.

I expect be there Saturday to Thursday.

Cheers,
Corey

Good to see that there's going to be a good crew out and that you'll have a 'left coast' visitor this year...
Have a great time all you DFer's...

Hey littleredcanoe..
Sid flew in from Vancouver probably yesterday, stayed with lbpuppy in Innisville and was heading north to Sudbury in the 'vanborghinni' with him today... probably staying at scouter joe's place tonight in Hanmer before heading out to DF 2017 tomorrow for the full 8 days... 'he ain't as dumb as he looks' (an old Newfy saying I learned in Cornerbrooke) in other words he's smarter than the average "Smokey" the bear...
Cheers,

Can anyone send me a pin drop location? Leaving Temagami now because of a lousy forecast but might stop by to say hello if we get a quick response. tearknee @ gmail .com

Well Deep freeze 2017 has come and gone and a good time was had by all . The weather was the warmest that we have ever experienced at deep freeze and we had rain on 3 days from Tuesday to Thursday which made the snow very soft and snow shoeing difficult . Friday cooler weather returned and things froze up nicely . There was a total of 40 participants and the last 12 left for home on Sunday . This was by far the best conditions ever for setting up the tents on February 18th nice and warm and sunny . Much more pleasant than last year . Thanks to all the participants for the great time . scouter Joe
