Many paddlers know Mike McCrae, out of Maryland. He once did a great experiment testing out different finishes for canoe rails and woodwork...he put about 8 different types of finish on some raw ash and left it in his yard for about 5 years, taking photos of it each year.
Many years back (maybe about a dozen), I found his blog post about this experiment, wth photos and analysis (and another few year follow-up) but all my google searching is now coming up dry.
Does anyone have (or can anyone find) the link to this great and relevant blog post?
Thanks
