paddeling 70 km both days.
Wow!
I know well the headwinds of the S. Sask. R.! Took me 2 days one spring to get from Saskatoon to Clarkboro Ferry in a solo canoe, just ~32km from the boathouse to the ferry.

That sounds about right. For my trip - The first day I had very strong headwinds. I only managed to get from Mewassin art gallery to the clarkaboo ferry and maybe another 3-4 km after that. And that was about 12 hours of paddling! The second day the winds were just as strong, but died down late in the afternoon. Even then, I only made it to batoche. At that point I was only 1/3 of the way, and almost called off the trip.
