Good or bad I have a bigger need for a pontoon boat to haul materials and people the 100 metres from shore to our island cottage than I do for another canoe these days.
That comment from Splake got me thinking about folks using two canoes (close to equal in depth and length) with a platform across the top and a motor to haul materials. I remember as a child seeing people doing that with a lashed pair of Grummans, hauling cabin building materials out to islands they had leased on the Susquehanna. Repeatedly, it took a bunch of weekends to haul it out and build it.
Plenty of double canoes rigged that way go down the Green River, albeit sans motor. (Also no thanks, while it seems to work well I’m not going down the Green with 3 companions in close proximity unless they are all mutes)
