I am wondering if anyone has been to this and can comment. Potentially interested in taking the family up this year. Also looking for recommendations of where to camp in the area.

My wife and I went about 5 years back and it was a good time. I'd recommend making sure you've got other things on your itinerary and not just spend all your time at the festival.

I'd also recommend making note of when John Kilbridge does an open house at the Temagami Canoe Company because he's an absolutely fascinating character.

Cool thanks - I was looking to this as a family outing for a long weekend or something.

What else is there to do in the area? I would imagine us taking our canoes and getting out for some paddles in the area.

Went there for the day on Saturday last year. Lots of neat displays and workshops to be had.

Documented some of the happenings on a blog post below. Should give you feel of the atmosphere.

Finlayson Point PP is just south of the festival grounds and decent little place to camp if your family prefers an established campground...

You can paddle to town from Finlayson PP easily, especially if you put-in at the park beach, which btw is a nice swimming spot. Tie up at the town docks. There's also car camping in Marten River PP a few miles south of town. Lots of family canoeing putting in from both parks. If you want to hike there's an old growth trail in Marten PP and another in Temagami.

Temagami Island a short drive and paddle from town also has hiking trails.

Your kids might get a thrill walking up the redesigned fire tower on Caribou Mountain. https://www.northernontario.travel/nort ... u-mountain
I also highly recommend dropping in to speak with John Kilbridge at Temagami Canoe.
