I went for a quick paddle on Grand River. Since it was self-supported I decided to do The Oxbow.

Not a beauty but it shows that the shape doesn't really matter as long as you push water.

It was an experiment.
I am sure it can be done from branches found in the woods, as long as you have duct tape.
