Seem to have lost the one-off our Nova Craft Bob Special on the road this week. Any thoughts on a permanent/temp fix?

I think it depends on the hole. My newer swifts have a fancy cam mechanism on roughly a 3/4 in hole.

My old swift simply had a screw and rubber washer in a little hole.

Three options...

-Install a new one.
-Use a rubber bung and make it fit fairly tight. Tight enough to keep water out but can still equalize on it's own.
-Plug it and drill another hole under the end cap. Drill this hole at the highest point of the air chamber so it could drain while upside down if needed. (this one is a bad compromise but can work)

I would suggest to install a new one. Two minutes to do it and it's safe again.

Try Googling "boat drain plugs" commonly used on tin motorboats. Would they work? They are readily available in a variety of sizes.
